Dango's Privacy Policy

Privacy is a topic which is of utmost importance to Dango whether you are blogger or a merchant starting a giveaway or are an entrant entering a giveaway. In this Privacy Policy statement, we will go over the information that we may collect Dango users and Dango visitors. We will also cover how we will store this information and what we will and will not do with it.

Information gathered from Registered Users

Some of Dango’s visitors decide to register on Dango to use certain features (such as entering a giveaway). In these cases Dango needs to collect some information from these users to be able to identify them uniquely. As an example, we ask visitors who sign up for an account as an entrant to provide a name and email address and password. Sensitive information is encrypted and stored securely in the database. Users who engage in transactions with Dango (e.g. by purchasing a Premium Membership) are redirected to PayPal where they can securely carry though the transaction. PayPal is a global online payment system which is recognized for its ability to securely handle transactions. Dango does not store (or handle) any transaction-related information such as your credit card details.

Dango only collects information which is strictly necessary to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Dango and for Dango to remain operational. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information should they choose to.

Ordinary Site Visitors

As most other website operators do, Dango collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, referring site, the date and time of each visit, etc. This is strictly for the purpose of learning and understand how Dango visitors use our website.

From time to time, Dango may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate.

Dango also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in. This is mostly done for debugging and security purposes (e.g. to ensure users do not create multiple accounts where they are not permitted to, or otherwise breaking our Terms of Service).

Dango for Giveaway Entrants

Facebook Login for Entrants

Many of our users prefer using their Facebook account to connect to our giveaways. When an entrant signs in through Facebook Connect, they will be shown a dialog hosted by Facebook that describes Dango giveaway app’s permissions.

We currently ask for only basic information such as name, public profile information various preferences and email address. Most of this information is the information which is already available about you publicly. Depending on your privacy settings less information will be available. Although the above permissions are asked for, Dango does not require all of them. The reason they are asked is because Facebook bundles much of the information together into a ‘single permission’ request. This means that only a small amount of information about each user is stored and used by Dango. This includes information such as your email address, name, profile link and unique user Id.

The email address Dango receives is the email address associated with your Facebook account. In certain cases, if you win a giveaway, the giveaway organizer may be able to contact you. If you enter a giveaway using Dango’s widget and log into the widget through Facebook, you will be contacted if you’re a winner at the primary email address listed in your Facebook account. In certain cases the giveaway host and/or giveaway collaborators (assuming the giveaway organizer has made so clear and has gathered your email address in a way, which is compliant with the local rules and regulations) may send you emails such as news updates or other material. This will only be the case if you have given your explicit permission for this to occur using Dango’s Sign Up to Newsletter entry option.

Name / Email Address for Entrants

If you choose not to log into a Dango giveaway widget via Facebook Login, the other option is to use your name and email address. This contact information is needed to give to the administrator of the giveaway to help them determine if you’re a winner and contact you if you win.

When an entrant signs into and enters a Dango giveaway, their entrant information is collected by Dango and presented to the giveaway administrator to make the job of the giveaway administrator easy to run, manage, and moderate their giveaways and giveaway entrants.

If you’re entering a Dango giveaway on a 3rd party site, please be sure that you read the giveaway entrant’s privacy policy and feel comfortable giving this entrant information to the party running the promotion. If you have reason to believe the giveaway administrator is using this list maliciously, please contact us at allen@lovecolour.co.nz

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Dango may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in Dango’s sole discretion. Dango encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
